Here Come The Ufos

Yes, I've finished entering the 2007 Canadian UFO cases into our database. It's now in the hands of Gf Dittman, who I'm sure is crunching data as we speak. No, I'm not going to say what the final number was yet, because we will be sending out a news release once things have been analysed a bit.

I will let a few things out of the bag, though. There were some curious trends this past year. For example, many, many sightings involved orange objects. This in itself may not seem significant, but it is, because this is the first year that this colour was so often cited. Usually, we're looking at white or red being the most often described, but for some reason, this year, it's been orange (and to a slightly lesser extent, yellow).

While out and about this past summer weekend, we visited a used bookstore, and I found two gems in good condition. One was Leonard Cramp's Piece For A Jigsaw III, the third part of his autobiographical account of UFO experiences and his construction of devices through knowledge imparted to him by the aliens. It's a lot of fun with lots of schematic drawings, photos and news clippings documenting his efforts. The other was a copy of David Jacobs' Secret Life, in which he laid out his thesis for malevolent alien abductions. What was most interesting about this copy is that it's heavily annotated by its previous owner, with underlines throughout many passages. Best of all, the noted passages, complete with dog-eared pages, are probably the least relevant of Jacobs' comments, such as brief summaries of notorious abduction cases that Jacobs had nothing to do with. Details of the abductions he investigated and studied weren't annotated at all.

Other things to note: Chris Reid will be hosting the premiere of Mysterious Manitoba, the new talk show on CJUM FM (101.5) on Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at 8:30 pm. He has invited me to sit in with him as a "regular," as we'll be talking everything from UFOs to ghosts to monsters and other Forteana. This will be my formal return to CJUM, since I had a UFO talk show on the station (called UFORUM) back in 1976! I co-hosted with Roger Matas, once with CJOB and now PR guy for the City of Calgary.

Finally, with this year's Canadian UFO Survey, I have finally run out of physical storage space. Where do I put this year's foot-high pile of Canadian UFO reports, since my filing cabinets are full?

The two day event kicks off on Friday, Aug. 3 with special activities at the Shag Harbour UFO Interpretive Centre during the day including a barbecue and a display by local crafters.

Participants will be able to hear first hand accounts of the 1967 UFO incident from eyewitnesses Laurie (Dick) Wickens and Havlock Cameron during an afternoon session at the Shag Harbour Community Hall starting at 1 p.m. Renowned UFO researchers and authors Chris Styles and Don Ledger will also be in attendance. Admission will be charged.

I live in Sanford, Florida, just around the corner of the Sanford airport. Last night, I saw 4 orange/red glowing lights above my house starting around 10:00 p.m.

The first one I saw while I was driving home. It was hovering over a commercial building. As soon as I stopped my car to look at it better, it started moving north.

I got back in my car and drove home (about 4 blocks away). I was watching it the whole time. It eventually just vanished in an area that it didn't make sense for it to vanish.

As soon as I got home, I had to change the windshield wipers on my car. I was telling my husband about what I just saw because it reminded me of a story our neighbor told us when we lived in Casselberry last year.

She had seen 3 orange lights flying above our house. Anyway, what I told him matched up with what our neighbor told him. As soon as I was done telling that story, another orange light came from over the horizon. It flew in the same flight path as the first one I saw.

We sat there and watched it the whole time. It flew right over our heads and did not make a sound. It seemed to be the size of a small car about

1,000 feet off the ground. It disappeared right as we heard a jet from the airport taking off.

About 20 minutes later, as we were finishing replacing my windshield wipers, another orange light appeared, again in the same flight path as the other 2. While that one was still visible, yet another one appeared and flew the same path.

Right around the same place that the other 2 disappeared, so did these two. It almost seems like they were going into an invisible mother ship or something. Because they weren't high enough to be hidden by clouds, and they weren't far enough to fall out of our range of sight.

They were a dull orange (similar to metal halide street lights) around the front and sides. The rear had red lights. When they were directly above us, you could see a very faint white light alternating flashes from the front and back.

A couple hours later, helicopters flew nearby, you could hear them and see their flashing lights distinctly. Whatever the orange/red lights are, they are definitely not planes or helicopters.

Also, I did not post this on the BlogSpot comment, but it just occurred to me that I have seen an orange light like this before when I lived in

Pompano Beach Florida.

One of the reasons I came online to look it up is because I've now seen these lights in Pompano, Sanford, and my old neighbor saw them in Casselberry, FL. Something's odd about all of this!

Sunday, Aug. 31, NBC Dateline (which online lives on MSNBC) aired "10 Close Encounters Caught on Tape." The show discussed the "Belgian Triangle" of triangular objects seen over Belgium. It went on to discuss multiple sightings over Gulf Breeze, FL in 1987.

There was one report of a sighting more or less in the Yucatan Maya area.

There was a report of sightings in the Hudson Valley, New York in 1983, near Kent, NY.
