Sighting of what you wonder?
He witnessed the sighting of what is commonly called an "unidentified flying object" (UFO).
Before you dismiss Mr. Allen as just another crazy person or someone who saw something clearly misidentified or had a little too much moonshine one night, keep reading.
"I am a witness to what I feel and others have said could very well be the most significant sighting in history! Why you ask? Several reasons. Multiple witnesses, including citizens, business owners, former FAA air traffic controllers, ranchers and law enforcement," he testified before the Citizen Hearing on Disclosure, May 3, at the National Press Club.
The Citizen Hearing on Disclosure of an extraterrestrial presence engaging the human race (CHD), April 29-May 3, included forty researchers and military/agency witnesses that testified for thirty hours before former members of the United States Congress, including former Congresswoman Carolyn Kilpatrick (D-MI), Congressman Merrill Cook (R-UT) and Senator Mike Gravel (Dem/Lib, AK) The CHD attempted to accomplish what they felt Congress has failed to do for forty-five years-seek out the facts surrounding the most important issue of this or any other time.
"There have been multiple witnesses of events in the past but this time...Well..You know, people may not remember the details, distort the facts and even lie to you, but this time there is a very comprehensive radar report compiled from several government radars! The radars have no hidden agenda and no emotion! It simply reports what it sees."
On the evening of January 8, 2008, in Seldon, Texas just outside of Stephenville, Texas at his friend's home, Mike Odom, Mr. Allen testified that he witnessed a set of four very bright, high intensity lights flying extremely fast and at a very low altitude. It seemed to be coming right at him flying from east to west.
"I knew immediately that it was nothing I had ever seen," said Mr. Allen. "I paid very close attention to all the details. I had the feeling this would be an historic event."
The object according to Mr. Allen appeared to be very large about a half mile wide and close to a mile long. It passed by him at approximately 3000 feet above ground level.
"This was not something way out in the heavens but it was right there before our eyes! It was totally silent. Made no wind noise, no engine noise. Nothing! As the craft traveled past us I had a strange feeling they were aware we were watching them and they were aware of (us) as well! Never had that feeling before."
"Also as the object passed by us you could see seven extremely bright lights in the rear of the craft all in a horizontal fashion, blinking in no particular order. The object came to a complete stop over Stephenville, Texas about three to four miles away."
The objects then reconfigured and suddenly disappeared. He was amazed. Mr. Allen and his friends went inside Mr. Odom's home to tell his wife who of course didn't believe what seemed like a tall Texas tale. They urged her to call Lance Jones the rural mail carrier who was with them but left.
When they made the call, Mr. Jones urged them to come back outside because the UFO's had returned.
"Sure enough this time the object was traveling from west to east and at a very high rate of speed, but this time I could hear the roar of jets in the immediate distance. Then a moment later sure enough the object had two F-16's in HOT pursuits! Full afterburner. The flames were protruding from the aft of the aircrafts! They were down on the deck, very close to us! They shook the ground and rattled the windows!"
"The object was much closer that the first sighting moments before. We stood there silently, in amazement and watched the object with the jets chasing; seed off into the distance over the horizon."
The next day Mr. Allen reported the event to his local airport and he contacted the local newspaper. Soon after all of the people who witnessed the event were on their local news stations, the CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, the Larry King Show, O'Reilly Factor, Good Morning America, Prime Time. National Geographic, the History Channel and the Discovery Channel made productions centered around the event, explained Mr. Allen.
Initial reports from the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve base in Ft. Worth, TX, consistently denied any of their aircraft in the area explained Mr. Allen but changed that story 10 days later when they admitted that they did have 10 F-16's in the area.
That's just the beginning of the sighting's corroboration.
Robert Powell, head of the Mutual UFO Network and his co-author Glen Schulze, investigated the Stephenville sightings and wrote a report. Mr. Allen testified that, they compiled the radar data hit (in the millions) and found an unidentified aircraft with NO TRANSPONDER traveling from east to west at 1900-2100 mph.
"Then in less than 10 seconds slowing to less than 50 mph over Stephenville, TX. What could do this? Then the object reversed course traveling from west to east with the two F-16's in pursuit. What else did the report show? Well eight additional F-16's, four on either side of the craft attempting to flank the object."
This was a life-changing event for Mr. Allen leaving him with more questions than answers.
"What could've out performed our best aircraft? Why were we chasing it with a vengeance? Is it a danger to others or myself while flying? Do they mean us any harm?
Mr. Allen is a member of a brave group of pilots and air traffic controllers who have witnessed sightings and risked ridicule to come forward to report it.
George Filer is a retired Air Force Major with over 5,000 flying hours. He is currently the Eastern Regional Director of the Mutual UFO Network and editor of Filer's Files testified to his sightings while flying for the US Air Force Refueling Squadron stationed at Sculthorpe RAF Base in London, January 1962.
Airline Captain for 31 years James Courant told his sighting story from 1980 along with US Air Force Lt. Colonel Richard French told of his sighting in Newfoundland while he was traveling to Libya.
Could they all be crazy?
"I've heard some of the most intelligent and scientific information I've ever heard. Then for people to make mockery of this is ridiculous. Twelve countries have hundreds of years of scientific evidence," said Congresswoman Kilpatrick. "It behooves us to participate in this conversation."
