GEORGE KNAPP: I'M DREAMING OF A BIGFOOT CHRISTMASIN THE DARKENED elegance of La Scala restaurant, one of the most exhilarating - and chilling - conversations of my entire life spilled across the table. It happened more than two and a half years ago but is burned into my brain as if it transpired yesterday.To my left sat a distinguished microbiologist, a scientist whose name is known all over the world but who keeps a low profile in his adopted town of Las Vegas. Two seats to my left was a former cop turned author and Bigfoot researcher named David Paulides. And to my right was Dr. Melba Ketchum, a DNA researcher who found herself in the middle of an unexpected but career-threatening controversy. It involves the hairy gent with Size 18, triple-wide feet, who is known by many names all over the world, but answers most often to his iconic nickname: Bigfoot.Before I was allowed to see any of the key research material, I had to sign a nondisclosure agreement. I was thrilled to be among the first to see the information, but it has driven me crazy ever since. A GLOW IN THE WOODSMICHIGAN - 11/12/2012 - UNEDITED: It was a night just like any other, sitting around watching TV. My mother went to the kitchen to make popcorn when I heard, "What the hell is that?" I went into the kitchen expecting my mom to be looking at a weird bug or something, instead she was starring out of the window. There is a farm field across the street, to the west of our house. The field is roughly 200 yards deep, from the road to the beginning of the tree line. Slightly south and across the street is a neighbors house, roughly 100 yards from the road. It was dark outside, and not much is visible at night in these parts. The neighbors did not have any lights on or a porch light, no one was home. They do have a large poll barn behind the house that has a light over the garage style door. This was completely unrelated to the glow in the woods. The glow was directly across from our kitchen window. It was about 30 yards wide, and came from in the woods. The light did not break the tops of the trees (most of which had no leaves) and I could not tell if it went all the way to the ground. I got a pair of binoculars and starred at this glow for at least 45 minutes. I watched for any kind of movement, change in position, anything. There was nothing, just a strong glow of light coming from the woods. My mother called our neighbors, who were out of town for the weekend, they knew nothing about it. I said before I watched the woods for a sign of anything for about 45 minutes. I saw nothing to describe what could have been producing or causing this glow, and all of a sudden it was gone. As if someone flipped a light switch and turned it off. I dont know if it was a UFO or anything of the sort, but it is inexplicable to my mother and I. We have never seen anything like it before or since. I did try to take pictures, but none produced any results. The only light that was visible was the light above the neighbors poll barn door. NEW JERSEY BIGFOOTIt was a crisp November morning in 1980 when Richard Biggins came face-to-face with what he believes was a Sasquatch. He was deer hunting with his father by the Walpack Inn in Sussex County."It had snowed pretty good the past few days, so there were six to 10 inches on the ground," Biggins recalled. "My father dropped me off and told me to walk into the woods almost to the base of the hill, wait 15 minutes, and then start walking to him to help push any deer toward him to shoot."The hill being steep, Biggins slid down it. Five minutes into his wait, he could hardly believe his eyes."I saw him walking down the hill on an angle, upright like a person!" Biggins said. "He looked like a human being with an ape head and had jet-black hair all over him. I had to take a double take on what I was seeing. His arms swung back and forth, and he had regular steps like a person on a spring walk."At the base of the hill was a tall pine tree with branches missing about six feet up, according to Biggins. When the Sasquatch reached the tree, he crouched down with his back to it."That's when he looked right at me," Biggins recalled. "I was about 50 yards from that pine tree. I thought about taking a shot, but I only had a single-shot shotgun. If I missed I was going to be in big trouble with no help close by."Deciding not to wait the 10 remaining minutes, Biggins slowly walked away. The creature did not follow. To this day Biggins only buys guns with multiple shots."I'm 47 now, and I still deer hunt, but I'm very cautious," he said. "I still look around for him in the woods."
