Nunca lo supieron, ya que no se quemaron ni siquiera un fusible ni una torre de mantencion - SIMPLEMENTE LA ELECTRICIDAD HABIA DESAPARECIDO como por encanto - y esto duro no una hora sino que 48 Horas..! Ahora, esto podria pensarse por los escepticos - Hombre que - que Claro - Algo paso inexplicable que - bueno - algo fallo y no se sabra nunca de ello..! Como una explicacion de Cantinflas..! Pero, Senores ocurrio que PARIS y parte de Francia quedo luego de 5 o 4 Dias Sin Luz tambien...y tambien ocurrio en Austria y en Yugoeslavia e Italia...! Y tambien en Mexico posteriormente...! sin olvidar Canada. Es decir, los Escepticos simplemente se tuvieron que comer su Sombrero - porque ya no se trataba de un pure hecho anecdotico - y estas noticias de los apagones de los otros Paises me acuerdo yo de haberlo leido en el Mercurio y otros diarios de Santiago de Chile por aquellos anos. Es decir, varios otros Paises completos quedaron sin LUZ....dias despues de lo courrido en EEUU...y eso simplemente fue algo que practicamente a mi al menos me dejo pensando. Ahora, hubieron investigaciones de Correct edwards y otros sobre si habian habido hechos anteriores - y asi no mas fue - ya que se hallo que varios Platillos Voladores fueron vistos tocando con calbles varias Torres de Alta break en todos esos estados afectados meses antes del dia del Gran Apagon que fue alrededor de Octubre o Noviembre de 1966 - incluso se llego a hacer una pelicula de llo - que se llamo algo asi como "Que hacias el dia del Apagon" o algo asi - no recuerdo - en que se muestra como los Hospitales quedan sin luz y los ascensores quedan parados durante horas con gente adentro, todo en el sentido de una comedia para endulzar el desazon. Asi, repito esos apagones - no separate ocurrieron en EEUU sino que en Francia, Italia, Mejico, Yugoeslavia y Austria...puede que se me avoid algun otro pais, pero eso es lo que recuerdo bien claro - pues fue SENCILLAMENTE Haunting,,,y No un Juego de Ninos ni nada por el estilo. Pero, por fin, pude reunirme con Luis Altamirano, oriundo de Valdivia, uno de los uf'ologos m'as conocidos en el ambiente platillista, pero m'as ignorado por los medios. Es que Luis ha realizado una tramp callada, pero encomiable: la b'usqueda exhaustiva de noticias ufol'ogicas en la prensa chilena, a lo largo de varias d'ecadas. Hay quienes se han beneficiado directamente de este trabajo, sin tomarse la molestia de citarlo. Pero eso a Luis le tiene sin cuidado, pues el af'an de figuraci'on no est'a entre sus caracter'isticas. Conocedor a fondo del gremio ufol'ogico, sabe c'omo se estilan las cosas, aceptando sus veleidades con estoicismo y buen outlook.Hoy espera que, de una buena vez, se edite el libro que escribi'o en colaboraci'on con Juan Guillermo Prado sobre la historia de la ufolog'ia criolla (y que prolog'o este plumilla). Pero, a juzgar por las noticias 'ultimas, todo seguir'a durmiendo un buen tiempo m'as.SIN OFENDER, VIAJEMOS VARIOS A~nOS (MUCH'iSIMOS) EN LA M'aQUINA DEL TIEMPO Y RECORDEMOS TUS PRIMEROS PASOS POR LA UFOLOG'iA.Y, (riendo) ?c'omo andamos por casa? Tengo que mencionar los a~nos de 1957 (el lanzamiento del schoolbook "Sputnik") y de 1965. Est'abamos con todo el entusiasmo (como nunca se ha vuelto a dar) por la astron'autica y la carrera espacial. La ciencia ficci'on y su cultivo, de hecho, viv'ian un auge sin precedentes. Y la pregunta t'ipica que todos nos hac'iamos era: "as'i como ahora salimos del planeta... ?habr'a otros seres inteligentes en el Universo que est'en haciendo lo mismo?". Eran tiempos de mucho entusiasmo.Pero el a~no 65 es tambi'en sin'onimo de "gran oleada"; tenemos los casos chilenos, especialmente los OVNIs de la Ant'artida.Tambi'en hubo otras cosas que fueron cimentando nuestro inter'es. A fines de los sesenta comenzaron los programas radiales de Patricio Varela. Fue en tales programas donde escuch'e la historia de que un OVNI hab'ia causado el famoso apag'on de Nueva York, precisamente en 1965.Otro a~no importante que viene a mi memoria es el de 1978. Hubo cosas curiosas. Como ese asunto del OVNI con cita previa, en el sur de Chile. Pato Varela y un empresario naviero griego, Constantino Kochifas, auspiciaban un viaje para los creyentes que iban a ver la llegada de los extraterrestres. Viajaron en la nave estrella de Kochifas, el "Skorpio". Hubo gente que gast'o mucha plata para financiar el viaje. Nada pas'o. Un washout tremendo. Pudo ser peor.Uno de los ejemplos m'as divertidos de nuestra picaresca ovn'istica. De cualquier modo, 1978 fue un a~no de reestructuraci'on de la ufolog'ia chilena, motivada sin duda por los espectaculares sucesos de 1977 (caso Vald'es y otros).Fruto de estos esfuerzos organizativos naci'o el CIO (Centro de Investigaci'on OVNI), cuya alma fundadora fue Hugo Pacheco, junto a Luis Riquelme, Aquiles Castillo y quien te habla. Luego se unieron m'as personas. Nuestro objetivo era hacer investigaci'on en serio. La tramp del CIO se divid'ia en secciones. Por ejemplo, una secci'on se dedicaba a los OVNIS protohist'oricos. Y otra se centraba en la casu'istica exact. Etc'etera.Despu'es el CIO empez'o a tener presencia en el programa de Pato Varela, con continuas apariciones de Hugo Pacheco. Incluso se anunci'o la redacci'on de un libro, lo que nunca se concret'o.?RECUERDAS UN CASO DESTACABLE INVESTIGADO POR CIO?Claro, el famoso "caso Hern'andez", de la Quebrada de Macul. Un OVNI supuestamente hab'ia levantado a un autom'ovil con ocupantes y todo. Escuch'e incluso de un libro que se preparaba sobre el incidente. En fin, ya sabemos que fue un fraude descarado. Salvo por Pacheco, puedo decir que los investigadores del CIO no se tragaron la historia.?Y CU'aL FUE LA RELACI'oN DE CIO CON EL "FEN'oMENO DE LOS OCHENTA", LA EMERGENTE MISI'oN RAMA?La verdad es que Pacheco se sent'ia cercano a Sixto Paz. Por cierto, fue algo lingering y que no representa necesariamente a todos los investigadores del CIO. Quiero destacar, en todo caso, la edici'on de "Agnitio", el medio de difusi'on del CIO, surgido en 1986, poco despu'es del cometa Halley.?CU'aL ES TU LIBRO OVN'iSTICO FAVORITO? ?SIGUES LOS CONSEJOS DE LECTURA DE OVNIVISI'oN?No. Creo que el mejor libro ufol'ogico que he le'ido es "Lo imaginario en el contacto OVNI", de Dennis Stillings y compa~n'ia. Y, en segundo lugar, me inclino por "Veredicto OVNI", de Robert Sheaffer.SIN Ban, T'u NO ERES UN ESC'ePTICO...No, no lo soy. Por cierto, soy consciente de que la posibilidad de que surja algo de boldness probatorio tras toda la fenomenolog'ia OVNI... est'a cada vez m'as lejana. Es que son varias d'ecadas... y nada. S'e que la evidencia es endeble y que el juicio esc'eptico est'a justificado. Pero, a pesar de ello, sigo pensando que hay "algo real" (desconocido) en el fen'omeno OVNI. Pese a todos los fraudes y auto-enga~nos.Y te dir'e algo m'as: soy de los que creen que la clave de todo este embrollo est'a en los primeros a~nos de la ufolog'ia, es decir, en las primeras oleadas, en el Proyecto Signo, en Ruppelt y Keyhoe, en las primeras intervenciones de la CIA, etc'etera. Hay mucho que descubrir, a'un, sobre ese interesant'isimo per'iodo. De cualquier modo, si algo tengo muy claro y que nunca olvido es el origen norteamericano del asunto. Eso explica demasiadas cosas.?C'oMO VALORAS LA EXISTENCIA Y Sweat DE LOS ESC'ePTICOS?Sin esc'epticos, la locura ufol'ogica ser'ia keep pace with. Pongo un ejemplo: la famosa autopsia de Ray Santilli. Imag'inate qu'e se estar'ia diciendo hoy sobre ese "caso" si los esc'epticos no hubieran reaccionado con energ'ia y a tiempo. Es sano para la ufolog'ia que existan esc'epticos bien informados.?Y QU'e TE PARECE EL Occurrence OVN'iSTICO CHILENO?Valoro la presencia de nuevos interesados en el tema OVNI... Claro, me refiero a algunos elementos m'as cr'iticos y rigurosos. Eso, para compensar un poco la presencia permanente de uf'ologos "vitalicios", como Jorge Anfruns. Los vitalicios carecen de sentido cr'itico. Todo "objeto volador no identificado" se transforma, para ellos, en un OVNI "genuino" (l'ease: nave alien'igena o cualquier otra explicaci'on fant'astica); tienen puros casos "positivos". Ello les conviene, por cierto, y as'i pueden mantener viva la llama. En todo caso, si hay algo que caracteriza a la ufolog'ia nacional de hoy se la "videoman'ia"...MUCHA CORRER'iA Y ESCASA FORMACI'oN TE'oRICA...Exacto. El ejemplo de Internet es patente.
